Ukrainian refugees who are received in Nederweert receive living allowance for food, clothing and other personal expenses. In Nederweert we follow the national scheme for refugees from Ukraine. The living allowance is made up of a number of components and the amount depends on age and the type of care that is used.

How do I receive the living allowance?

To be eligible for living allowance, the application form for living allowance must be completed.
Upon verification of the completed form and upon presentation of the international Ukrainian passport, a prepaid bank card will be issued. The card comes with a PIN code and a Dutch, English and Ukrainian explanation.

Living allowance is requested for/on behalf of the family or group. The living allowance is provided to one person within the family. The prepaid bank card has a limit of €2,000; if more living money is provided, several prepaid cards are issued. The prepaid card comes with a website on which one can monitor one's expenditures.

Payment

Payment takes place monthly on the first of the month. If you have your own Dutch IBAN or will get one later, the living allowance can also be transferred to that account. Living allowance is paid out from the date of registration in the basic register (BRP). It is possible to apply for living allowance with retrospective effect, until 1 April 2022 at the latest. Living allowance is not paid in cash and is not transferred to an account of the host family.

No entitlement to living allowance

Entitlement to living allowance ceases when there are wages from work or other income. For other family members who do not have their own income, it will continue. When you move to a shelter in another municipality, the payment of the living allowance stops. In the new municipality, you can reapply for the living allowance. If you are not entitled to a full month's worth of living allowance, the allowance will be provided on a pro rata basis.

Start of disbursements

The first disbursements will take place as of mid-May. This is because system modifications are necessary in order to make the disbursements. However, living allowance can already be applied for.
